Last Friday, the leadership of Students' Representative Council Met with the vice chancellor, Gombe State University in person of Prof. Aliyu Usman Elnafaty. Where the leader of the delegation in person of Mal Usman Isah Yau who is the chairman advisory council (staff advisers) introduced the newly sworn-in executives to the vice chancellor.
The President of SRC craved for the indulgence to introduce the newly elected executives. Also, during his remark, He ceased that medium to congratulate the newly appointed vice chancellor of the university. Praying for a successful tenure as he have assumed office as the third Vice chancellor of GSU. Stressing more on the confidence that the students have on him to deliver exceptionally in all ramifications and as such, the success of his administration will be a priority to all as we all put hands on deck towards shaping humanity even for posterity sake.
Furthermore, the SRC president outlined some unprecedented achievements recorded after the swearing in of the newly elected SRC executives which the administration is tagged "LAST HOPE OF STUDENTS". among others, the ongoing reduction of transport fees to the students vacating to their respective states.
However, the President requested the attention of the management on some crucial issues as regarding the wellbeing of students in general which are not far fetched.
1. The need to extend the time of closing university clinic as well as additional resources (both human and materials).
2. The need to extend duration of closing second gate so as to increase access to university facility.
3. The need to increase hostel utility in terms of maintenance of the electrification.
4. We also request that the management should consider and reduce the school fees to students living with disabilities so as to encourage studies for students living with disabilities.
Finally the President added that "on behalf of Students Representative Council, Council of presidents and the entire Gombe State University students we wish you a successful tenure in office".
Meanwhile on his response, the vice chancellor welcomed the leadership of students for the visit and emphasised to the leadership to encourage their fellow students to conduct themselves in line with rules and regulations governing the students in the university.
In his responses to the request he said "as a medical doctor I have more emphasis on the situation of university clinic and the management will take the necessary measures before the resumption of students.
In regards to the second request the university management will request the security report and study in order to take a relevant action.
However, on the issues of electrification and maintenance, the management received a report that some students do connive to misuse or to some extend, steal some of the utilities but the management assured us of their relentless effort on redeployment of necessary resources to fixed the problem back to normalcy and increase hostel utility.
On the issues of reduction of school fees to students living with disabilities, the management are currently set to open an account that will serve the purpose. More so, the management will mobilize donors to support the education of people living with disabilities as well as less privilege people.
